It's an OEM W/A intercooler pump graham so it would have to be the best bet available. Other options I see people using are things like irrigation pumps.

It would have had to pass all their NVH testing before the implemented it.

Just ask Ricola about all the testing manufacturers do.

Hi

I only bought it as a spare, I'm going to use my existing Davies Craig one that's also made by Bosch its very quiet, no worse than a EFI fuel pump http://www.daviescraig.com.au/Electr...2-details.aspx

Somebody did some testing for a chargecooler project and the bosch one was the quietest by far with one of the best flows..

Hi

I ran in a VW only 1/8 mile drag event on the weekend, no prizes this time as I kept breaking out as the car kept getting quicker all the time http://youtu.be/uhgVgzf5oD0

Hi

I forgot to mention that with the ice box from Frozen Boost I was able to get intake temps below ambient temps, so fill it with ice in the staging lanes and run the pump to cool it down. I also fitted 3/4 inch home irrigation valve to act as a restriction to keep the cooled water in the inter cooler longer. Driving around on the street the ice box acts as normal reservoir.

I've always struggled at drag events to do consistent times as my intake temps world rise as the meet went on as my ECU pulls timing out as the intake temps rise. I'm running my fuel return through it as well so I'm cooling fuel which is another issue that the ice box has cured, my fuel pump would start to cavitate during the meet so I could've risked a lean out.

I gave a lift to a Facebook friend, Steve Pafitt, we have never met before, he used to drag race a bug in the UK, he did this video of the weekend http://youtu.be/wGutcgKEfQw lucky he wasn't an axe murderer.

Hi

Went to see my friend Westy and he made new less restrictive exhaust for my Beetle.

I'm using a Mondeo (3/95 - 04) air box with the lid removed, it sits near the engine lid vents and suck air through there, its 397 x 150.

Just got back from a 7 hour each way road trip to Shepperton, Victoria in the bug. I'm really happy with how the car performs now with the new turbo. It comes on at 4200 like you just got hit up the bum by a train.

So cruising at 120kph its off boost at about 3,000 rpm so its very quiet, it picks very nicely in 5th at that speed with a few psi of boost, if I stick it back to 3rd at that speed its nuts.

After stops for fuel etc you could really see how the new intake setup dropped temps back down again after some heat soak from the stop and something that I haven't seen before is the intake temps varying depending on load, so if I boot it intake temps would rise slightly and fall back down again when cruising.

I had another tune to compensate for the new exhaust and air cleaner, it was another **** day for a tune, very hot.

I've reached the limit of the current set-up now which is what I wanted to do, next cams & E85.

Im running this event this weekend, just hope I have the balls to keep my foot down http://snowymountains1000.com.au/

Hey Steve,
You actually did a Land Speed run there! Verry cool!
There is a fairly large group of us that like the long sprint distance and the history VW has with landspeed racing and there is a group on facebook for it. Bonneville being the ultimate place for that of course, but Australia has its own saltbed lake as well (Lake Gardner iirc) and VW's run there too.
The 1000 meter is now also a recognised distance, as are alternate powered VW's ;-)
Please contact Burly Burlile if you like to be in the registered group of those that have run actual measured times on these distances.
--> burlybug@comcast.net

Well done on the run(s) and great footage!
