very cool. glad to hear you are back at it. disappointed you ditch your 996 for an Infiniti, but now that i am driving a STi instead of the 951, i guess i don't have much room to talk.

looks like a great project. hopefully the different approach will keep the cost down too. as for the wheels, i love that design and chrome always looks good on black. and you can never go wrong with Fuchs on a Ghia even if overdone. personally with the way you are headed with the car though, i would consider going 5x100 and gain MANY wheel options.

Thanks Zen.

Yes, I am sad about ditching the 996, but unfortunately I had a career
change in March, and my new job requires about 75 - 150 miles per day
in driving. I tried it in the Porsche for the first month. It wasnt very
comfortable, nor did it prove reliable. So I decided I'd better get a newer
Jap car and having had a 94 Nissan 300Z previously, I decided on an
Infiniti G35 Coupe. Drives like a Z, but has more creature comforts

I love Chrome on black as well. As far as the Fuchs go, I did consider using
16 x 6 & 16 x 7 (In Chrome of Course) as an alternative to the Boxster
wheels, but I really would like to do something a little different then every
other Ghia out there even though I love the look of Fuchs on a Ghia

As far as running 5 x 100, that would be great if I didnt already have brakes.

Yes, i plan on keeping the project costs down on this one. I dont want
to have so much money tied up into one project. I've got my eye on a really
clean 67 Sunroof Notch & also want a 75 Super to do a Kafer Style Car. Now
only if my 67 Beetle would sell, I'd have some more capital

I plan on running 16" Boxster wheels on my new 69 Ghia Vert

They are 6 x 16 with 50mm offset in front
and are 7 x 16 with 40mm offset in rear

I am running a 2" narrowed beam in the front, so there wont be
any problems there, I more concerned about the rear...

Anyone have any experience running a 7" wide wheel in the rear
with a 195 width tire?

What wheel offset were you running?
What mods did you have to do, if any?

Sweet project. I've been a little MIA too. I need to get back on my Ghia.

I'm running cup 2's 7" - 55et rear with a 205/50. I widened the rear fenders to get them to fit, I think they're widdened about an inch and a half. Although the Porsche brakes move the wheel out about an inch.

Nice project!!!

That will look sweet when done up right. I agree that the chrome Boxster rims will be a nice look for a Ghia.

FWIW I have not been MIA, just saving money and collecting parts for the 57

Thanks Adrian. I agree about the boxster wheels as well. Should suit the
Ghia just fine. Especially if I paint it black

Good to hear about your 57

I know a guy that can do black very well. The bodywork under it has to be perfect to pull off black. I am not a "Chrome" guy but those wheels should look good on a Ghia.
