Why are T1 engines seen as crap compared to T4

Hey peeps could some one tell me why T1 motors are seen as crap in the GL comunity compared to the T4, when as far as i can see you cant get as many aftermarket parts and they cost more , when both can also have a porker fan fitted ???? Cheers peeps

Not realy crap but the the type 4 started bigger and a lot was learned after the type 1 and then put into the type 4. making it a more durable engine.

also the t1 world has been invaded by cheap and crap parts. where the t4 hasnt at this stage. saying that we are just starting to see them.
but a previously said the t4 was a progression of the t1.
having driven both a bug with both a t1 and a t4 fitted they are a different type of power.
its also about percentage of modification ultimately leading to longevity.
to make a t1 2.2L is about a 50% or more modification depending on what you started with.
to make a t4 2.2 even from the smallest ie 1800 is about a 20-30% modification. leading to a easier running motor.
hell we have seen t4 up to 3L and they are daily drivers.

A type 4 has much more cooling finnage to keep temps in check at high sustained power levels.
Because a German Look car is supposed to be running flat out in a high gear on the autobahn or road course, this becomes very important.
When you build a hi-po type 1, it will be harder to keep head temps under control, if not impossible.
T1 can make big power, but not for sustained running.
Tha's why there's so many drag cars out there running T1...
Remember, oil coolers don't cool heads,
Fins do.
