Question Cost Of a GL

I was wondering how much people have spent on their projects. Wanting to compare costs arround the world? and Comparing the cost to make a GL rather than a ricer or a hot-rod?

Im just 17 and am planning my '72 1302 GL, these r my estamates
Engine (Type VI) : $5-7000 USD
Body : $2-3000
Wheels & tires: $1-2000
Interior/stereo: $1-2000

What have people spent or plan to spend on their car, with what results they are trying to get?

The range is wide and depends on lots of things. How much of the work can you do and how much will you have to pay someone to do? How will you buy most of the stuff you will use? Swap meets, Ebay, retail? Are you going to have realy nice paint or just average? etc etc.
The more you can fab. and do yourself and the better deals you can find the lower the total will be.

there was a thread on this earlier that you might look at. you can go from mild to just plain nuts (the category i am in). your numbers are pretty accurate but don't cover everything. the assumption is the money going at the TIV will be for a large engine. so add on $750-$1500 for a tranny to handle the power. brake upgrades will be required in my opinion. and suspension upgrades. and anything you want to throw at the interior.
