How hard is it to make a mold?

Question, I have some fiberglass running boards that I altered for four inch rear fenders and two inch fronts. I have a total of three Super Beetles and if possible I would like to install this type of running boards on all three. So I would like to make a mold or plug as it is also callled. Would making a plug be vey hard?

Well if you didnt mind the running board being slightly oversize you could just use the old ones as a mold.
