Great stuff Troy - had a look through your link and you have some nice gear - The IDMAX12s are awesome subs - very musical (for a sub!). Love the type x crossovers, they look sweet.

I am interested in how it turns out - I will be running Alpine CDA-9833, Eclipse 12in Sub (was going to go with IDMAX originally but ran out of cash)...and two kenwood amps (for the moment) - 2 channel bridged for the sub and 4 channel for the front splits (Dynaudio 240GT 6.5s). I don't want to steal your thunder for this thread but here are some pics of my preliminary setup (still under construction). The 6x9 holes in sub enclosure will be glassed over.

If you prefer I can delete the pics - as I said don't want to cut in...let me know

I love what you're doing though! Keep it up!
Alan

Looking good both of you!

I have an Idmax12d2 sat here waiting to go in, along with my llovely old school RF power 500a2 Bass cube and a phoenix gold pld1.. Just need to sort my front stage out (currently running half decent kenwood components up front from RF punch 250a2).

I prefer the stealth approch... Previous incarnations of my install had 3x10" kenwood subs behind rear seat, completly hidden from view, could open bonnet and no amps were visible, same with front speakers etc... Stereo is in the glovebox too (1303, so not easy!)

Here you can see the most recent incarnation of the setup:
http://members.lycos.co.uk/vdubhub/a...location_1.jpg
amp on the right is a steg amp, 500x2rms if I remember rightly... was running front speakers... other amp is a pro-plus nemesis... MONSTER!
# 2000 watts RMS in one ohm - 180 A
# 1200 watts RMS in two ohm - 90 A
# 600 watts RMS in four ohm - 35 A
It melted my 4 gauge cable when I was running it at 2 ohm...
That was all stripped out and sold over a year ago now, but I really missed my bass so have started accumulating bits for my new install

Sam C

Nice system Troy...interesting place to mount a reciever

Dasdubber: did you do the glass work? If so....very nice work...would you be willing to make another?

Well, this is what Im going to be installing into my car:
an Alpine CDA 9855 head unit, MB Quart Premium PCE213 5.25" comp. in the kick panels, MB Quart Premium PCE164 Mid Bass behind the seats, and MB Quart Premium PCE216 6.75" comp. near the rear wheel wells!

Havent decided what sub or amps Im going to run with yet...Im looking moore towards JL Audio for the sub and either Alpine or JL Audio for the amps!

the sub(s) and amps are up for grabs right now....after all the other audio equipement I dont know what I'll be able to afford

Awsome stuff! Love a well thought out installation! :agree:

Yep I did the glass work myself, it was my first ever attempt at fibreglassing so you really could do it yourself. Fortunately you don't need any expensive tools (apart from router which I used for the MDF work). I am in Australia so freighting something this big would cost more than a professional would charge to build 3 of them for you!!

Here is a link to my sound system installation (thus far) - it is a work in progress so will be updated as I fit the dyn's in custom kick panels and new headunit, wiring etc!

Give it a go, its not that hard (just messy)!
