Type iv engine parts
Just curious what are some sources to buy engine parts for T4's ? Piston/cylinder kits ,bearings & gasket kits, etc... I know that LN,PTP and the olthers sell parts but , I cant afford or see spending like $1200 to $1500 on pistons and cylinders alone and PTP is in Germany so big $ on shipping. I was looking for some in the US. I'm not trying to "knock" these forum contributors but I'm on a limited budget and I'm the D.I.Y type !

What about Jake Raby, aka Massive Type 4.

A&A in San Francisco, imported cylinders/pistons from Japan. Cheaper than the rest but they have a repuation of poor quality. I bought a set and measured them 6 was from sundown and found them to be very straight and square on all surfaces. The pistons are a nice quality, lightweight, casting that balanced well out of the box. I swapped out the supplied rings for a set of Deves rings from European Motors, they are supposed to be the best for type 4s. A&A advertises in HVW magazine.

The best cylinders to use are old German bored to 96mm. With new pistons from aircooled.net and the labor for boring/honing, it's a good deal. If you can't get your hands on those I would not hesitate to run P/Cs from A&A, I think their quality has gotten better over the past few years.
