Zigi's 1303

Hello fans, I am form Czech Republic (Europe) and I want to transfer little bit my 73" 1303 into German Look.
here is my car: http://zigis.wz.cz/foto/Brouk/IMG_2336.jpg

I want to use 17" Porsche CUP wheels, CUP 2 or 3, what I will buy better.

I dont know in Europe a lot of producers of good suspension parts, that I find this one: http://store.airkewld.com/e-shop-onl...ering-kit.html

- what do you think about this one? It is good option? Do you have any other option in maximum of this price???

- do you think I can use standard fenders, or there is no way how to mount 17" Porsche wheels (7J front, 8,5J rear) under stock fenders???

Thank you very much for help and any suggestions. During January I want to order all parts, to handle it before spring.

Looks like the front struts are Topline Maxx Struts. You might want to look at Topline's site.

Thanks for the link!
any other ideas about my questions? In Czech is problem to reach any relevant informations I really appreciate your help. I dont want to order or find out anything bad, when it was solved long time ago before I want to do it

My dream result is my cream bug, on "antracit" 17" Porsche CUP wheels. Engine is now rebuilding, to be little bit stronger And I have no idea about fenders.....and it is hard to get them into Czech, in good condition, and for some reasonable price + postage.

thanks for your help ! and I will post progress pictures

Many people have used Porsche 17x7 wheels under stock fenders with the Topline MaxxStrut on the front and a bit of clearancing on the bump stop cup at the rear. Some have had to flip the forward bolt on the spring plate/trailing are joint also.

That sounds perfect!

Problem is,that most common 17 CUP wheels have ET front 50 and rear 55....do you think this still can be under stock fenders?

And what about brakes,my plan was only to exchange my drums for drums with 5x130 patterns. That was first. And cheap solution, but I know now enough. Do you think when I use these drums, it will fits still?

Do you have any brake "sets" which you can recomand to me, which can be easily replaced for original drums on my car? I think this will be pretty expensive thing for me

Thank you very much!

Nice, thank you, I found this kit on www.toplineparts.com written above. Better to transport it from USA than Canada, thank you!

But this kit is 4x130 as Super Beetle??? Or 5x130?
Or rear, I have to change it for drums with 5x130 as well, now I have 4x130, or do you think, there will be a spacer for change from 4x130 to 5x130 ???? Or not a space for spacer under 17" CUP wheel ??

your best bet is to get blank rotor and Drums and drill them to 5x130.
That Site I posted, you can buy them already done...

Some progress.

Yesterday I bought on eBay CUP 3 wheels

7J and 8,5J....I hope they will fit under stock fenders, what do you mind?

The suspension will be complete kit from Airkewld ( Topline front)

+ I found front 944 brakes. Only there I have no idea what will be neccesary for installing them on me 1303 with drums

If you have any ideas, I will be glad.

Enjoy new year 2010, back with Germanlook forum

Very first touch. Rear has to go lower, but that will be adjusted according how low we should go with the front.

Finally new look of 944 Turbo seats.

Porsche brakes all around finally.

The season is over, but I want to be ready for next season from the begining :-)

Did you source your front coilovers? Not wishing to upset anybody but I would stick with a European supplier for the suspension parts as they will know local (European) conditions. Traditionally, main stream manufacturers have different settings for different markets. GL is about performance IMO so I would look to Bilstein, Koni, CSP, Spax, Avo etc for the suspension package.
It is likely that the front end will be stiffer and because you are lowering the rear that needs to be stiffer to. Change the rear torsion bars and/or add coilovers. If you have stiff coilovers then add a 5 bar Kafer Cup brace to the rear and a strut brace to the front.
Performance kit will not work properly without the correct control so, fit at least poly bushes all round.

I wasn't aware there was a season????? Its just as much fun playing in snow as on dry tarmac.

The front will be Maxx Strut:

Engine is already in. But nothing killing, just 1775 with a few adjustements.
This will be a first version, to find out all problems with Porsche brakes, standard fenders + Porsche wheels, etc. Testing Begining of GL, not a racing special at all. So after it will be complete, I wil start to test the chassis, car.

Some news :-) Now we can start with finish design works. Dechroming, carbon, black color, etc. Another front tire, interior finish, still a lot to do.
