Porsche tank/oil level


how can i make the oil level work on a vw beetle? I am not sure, but i think that 911s have external oil tank with the unit inside it. can i use it in any way with the beetle? Is anyone done that? thanks in advance.

Is your setup a dry or wet sump? The 911 is a dry sump and the sender is in the oil tank.

its the stock system, so it will be wet sump. Is there any way that i can use it other than the dry sump? thanks

I am sure that with enough thinking and cash, you could find a way to do something with it in a wet sump. It would take alot of mods in the engine case were there is little room for extra parts and the reading would move wildly as you turn, stop and go. I don't think it would be worth the effort if it can be done at all. But I have never tried it.
