It gives the gearbox-horns and the mounting of the schockabsorber more strenght, stiffnes. The triangel-shape that ya made with that gives the extra stiffnes. For big engines this is (almost) an must-have.

Sooooooooooooooo, what an day was yesterday.

At 8 o'clock I stood at the metal"shop" and more than 16,5 hours after that I was back at home.

The day:
I made an nice planning for the day, but sadly I had to reject it at the first thing I did that morning. I was at the metalshop yesterdaymorning, and sadly the guy didn't had time that day to cut some steal for me (one-man-firm, good guy and good prices). Ayeah than that has to go another time.

Then I again started with sanding the lose pices of my chassis. First with 320 after that with 800. What an ****ty job is that (but hell yeah someone got to do it ). Next time I certainly will go wet-in-wet.

The rest of the text and pictures will come this evening (I forgot the time, and have to go now )

So here is the rest of the update of yesterday;
In the afternoon I got to the paintshop, buyed an new paintgun and asked some info. Sanded again some stuff and started with preparing some pieces for painting.

After dinner finished the preparing of the pieces, degreesed all the stuff and finally painted the pieces with my NEW paintgun. I took some time to get used on it, but what an great gun, much more injustable as the other one.
Sprayed the black 2K paint in several layers and layed an layer of clear on top (not standard).

When again the paintgun was cleaned I was at home around 0.40 a.m.

16,5 hours of work

Man, that looks good! What gun did you buy? And if you dont mind me asking how much you paid for it? I cant really find a good quality gun here in France in the DIY shops(when I say good quality, I mean just by looking at them through the packaging in the shops. They all look 'un-refined', if that makes sense?) I have worked with a DeVillbis(sp?) gun in S.Africa when I used to work on airplanes, and my gun was REAL GOOD quality back then. Just a shame that it got stolen out of the shed at some point(man I was upset when my mom told me!!!). The plus point is that I didnt even have to pay for it!......

Sata's and DeVillbis are the best (if I may trust the guys at the paintshop).

I don't have the money for that guns (+/-180-300 euro), so I asked them what was an good gun for an good price.

And they recommended this one, it is an remake of an mark gun (from which I can't remember the name). And it's cost only 60 excl (around 75 euros incl), I find it good adjustable and finally I can buy every lose piece on it again!!! And there were nozle from smaller than 1mm till 3mm.

So yesterday night sanded another four hours on the tunnel. Last time after sanding with 320 shot on an control-layer. Yesterday sanded the control-layer with 320, than antoher control-layer and then sanded with 800.

Sadly sanded throught the filler +/- 10 times so I picked the 1K filler and shot some of that on the spots. Next time an little sanding on that places and were finally going to paint the pan.

Here some pics of how the pan was yesterday afternoon.

So, Today i've been bussy again.

At first set the chassis on the self-made dolly.

It's so nice that you can move the car on your own, without help of someone else. GREAT =D>

Than sanded the underside of the pan with 800, then masked the upsaide of the pan, then degreased the top of the pan. Mixing some paint and shot it on..................

RED #2

At first I was afraid that the paint wasn't good any more after standign still for more than 2,5-3 years. But luckily it was as spraybale as new.

After that I sanded (10 though 15) lose pieces of the pan (with 320 and 800).

p.s. for the guys that things; where's the sealer and the bodyschutz? They will be added thus week.

Just quickly some pics of the painting of last monday.

And now the story of past 2 days;
The day before yesterday I started at 7 o'clock p.m. with scotch-ing the underside of the pan. Then masking, than degreasing, then bringing on the sealer. The sealer has to be on that day, so I could spray bodyschutz over the next day. What a $hit job that sealer #@*&(^#@ :twisted: , but it's done. At half past 11 the pan is turned over and the handling repeats and I finally was ready at 2.30 am!!!

What an hobby. :roll:

Sealed the underside

Masked the upside

And than I finally could start sandblasting AGAIN :twisted: When I came home it was already today (friday).

Greetings

Yesterday evening, before I got to the party, sprayed the underside of the pan with bodyschutz and some lose things.
Today (late in the afternoon) hope to turn over the pan and spray the other side of the pan and the front control arms.

I've been following the progress of your car closely! It seems like my day isn't complete unless I check your thread for a little eye candy!
It's like porn for gearheads!
