Need help Off Pan Resto Vert

To All,

Need some help located some info on a brace someone had made..
I have a 78 vert and am no looking at taking the body off.. I have read about a reinforcement brace, but can't find anything on it..
I fear that the body will bend and be ruined..

Any suggestions.. thanks..

I have done, research but most if not all articles on the Web are not for Verts..

Any help appreciated.

hi
what most do is weld a tube between the a and b posts this will stop the body folding on itself are you removeing the body to sort heater chanell rust ? you may need to weld a tube at the top and the bottom between your posts this is possibly the only surefire way to ensure that your doors will fit when you mount it back up to the pan.

is it going back on the same pan or a different one ?

deppending on how poor the structure at the minute is it may be worth considering welding in some bracing across the body from b post to b post as well.

when youve got the body back on the pan bolted up snug and happy grind the braces off smooth and away you go it sounds painfull but its better than having door gaps all over the shop.

NJV,
Thanks for the reply..

This is going on the same pan.. The reason I am doing an off pan is so that I can redo the floor pans, kersher reinforcement bar, 901 tranny and type IV conversion.. Also POR-15.. Looking at the engine and tranny, but unfortunately have to go away on business for two weeks.. But that's another story..

Figured it would be easier to install and test fit the above, and do it right once and for all..
Do you have some pics of where exactly to weld some 1" square tubing to the A and B pillar things..
Sorry for my ignorance I just don't want to damage a good body.. The body doesn't look like it has a lot of rust.. but then again I haven't had the paint removed yet..

If anyone has pics please let me know or send to olaverriam@yahoo.com

Sincerely
Alex
