A black 930 had always been my favorite Porsche until it was replaced with the 965. Beautiful cars!!!

The 965 is now my favorite and the only modification I'd do to it is a girlie in the passenger seat.

sweet. just hope he doesn't back into you. :silly:

i grew up in my dad's '73 911T. some of my best memories. it is funny watching my kids now beg to jump in the backseat of my 944T. i remember so well feeling as a kid that porsche was the only car company smart enough to make the seats kids sized. ah, to be so naive again. i think that comes back around 90.

congrats to your dad. i had to sign an agreement that i would never drive the car for my dad to even get issurance. pretty sure that is why he kicked me and my brother out as soon as we hit 18.

I grew up as the son of a Porsche dealership Service Manager and although I've never owned a Porsche by the time I was 15 had driven several, including a euro spec 930. He had an Audi 5000 CS Turbo Quattro for a demo and has owned several 911's (he likes the old ones) and a few 924/944.

Thanks guys! We really appreciate the kind words.

I was raised on air-cooled also. I was maybe 2 or 3 years old when my Dad had his modded Ghia. Then he got into a resto project of a 1965 356. Then later on the Super came, then the 912 re-opened the gates to Porsche-dom and now there is a 911 sitting in the garage under me as we speak.

My uncle also had a 72 911s and he owns a 64 356, not to mention several bugs between them both.

It's funny how a lot of us get tied into the VW/Porsche family almost by genetics.

yea it drives my wife nuts. my 3 year old son can call a VW or Porsche by name when he sees one. everything else is just referred to as a "car" or "truck".

my dad just keeps going backwards in cars. from the '73 911T to a '65 356 Cab to now a '55 Speedster. i guess his choices keep getting better though. he did start out driving in a '59 T-1.

i'm sure your dad is going to love that car. that has to be a pretty rare find in the north. i am a florida boy originally. not too hard to find any of them down there.

I was brought home from the hospital when I was born in a '68 Ghia 27 years ago now I'm driving 914 on the daily and working my GLing my Supa, I'm sure there will be more Porsche's in and out of my life. Another thing I've notice since I've got the 14 is that all VW people like Porsche's alot.

In my eyes Porshe and VW (and their cousin Audi somewhat) are one in the same, much like Chevrolet/Pontiac/etc.

This statement is more true to the late 80's, the newer cars aren't too much alike anymore.

Oh and Supa Ninja, if you didn't already know, the 914 shares much design with the 911 simular to the relation between the 944 and 113.

James, the 914 also shares some of its components with the VW 411 too.
