I wouldn't know about the interchangability of a boxter engine into a VW. That depends on what type of VW you have, and what type of transmission you use, I guess.
As far as emissions, you should check your local laws governing emissions regulations for the car. Where I live, if I used a 993 Twin Turbo in a '73 Superbeetle (it's ok to dream!) I would have to adhere to the emissions laws regarding a '73 model light automobile under 5 litres, so I would not have to use an EGR, A.I.R., smog pump/diverter valve, catalyst, or fill pipe restrictor. I think only evaporative emissions were controled on a '73 1303. Yetibone

well i just saw a boxter engine for somewhat cheap, considering its a freaking porsche engine and considered putting it in my 73 type 3. i was reading some past posts and read somewhere that the people with the rx7 engine swap in a pre 74 didnt have to get their engine smogged so i assume it should be the same with the boxter. anyone make an adaptor plate or anything for it to fit on a vw tranny, i know porsche trannys are expensive so.... thanks
