LOOK! 1974 Project Sliding Steel Sunroof Super Beetle, MUST GO ASAP, Best Offer
I have 2 project bugs and no time to work on either
(working on startup business - been back on the east coast for 10 months) so as much as I hate to part with one I need to do it. ASAP! I've done 3/4 of the work I planned to do on this car but I don't have the time or cash flow to finish it right now. The car has been sitting since November 2003 waiting for me to work on it I am way too busy right now to finish it though. So you might want to flush the fluids in it and recharge the battery. About the car: You can see it here as it is being sold (chrome rims): http://www.dancatts.com/74forsale.jpg How it looked as a German Looker (I'm keeping the rims) http://www.dancatts.com/asgermanlook.jpg - Sliding Steel Sunroof - Located in Pleasant Hill, California. - Lowered front (adjust a struts) uerethane bushings - strut tower brace - lowered slightly in rear - KYB shocks - Fiberglass Fenders wider than stock fenders - 2 spoke Porsche Steering Wheel - H4 Converted Halogen Autopal Headlights - Shaved Turn Signals relocated in euro bumper - Smoked Tail Lenses - Fuba Roof Mounted Antenna - Front Seats good condition - Polar Silver Frost Paint (2 years ago) Still looks new, inside painted but not inside of trunk or underside of decklid - Electric pump winshield washer pump (converted from scirroco) - Currently has stock 34 Pict/3 carb modified to work with 009 - 009 Distributor - Merged hide out exhaust - Tiger CDI ignition - 1600 engine - chrome wider than stock rims with wolfsburg nipple hubcaps What it needs but I didn't finish: - Engine Rebuild. Has low compression. Unknown mileage as odometer broke. I imagine anyone with a little knowledge of VWs could get it running again without too much work or expense. - Headliner - Radio, currently has none. - I patched the floor board rust, in an ideal world I would have replaced them but at the time I just wanted to keep the elements out. - I had some porsche rims on it (was going for the german look), but I am selling them seperately. BEST OFFER TAKES IT. I can't store it any longer. Buyer has to arranger pickup/tow. If you are local and want to swing by and take a look at it that can be arranged. Looking for a quick sale though. PS: Might be interested in trades for running engines as my other project needs engine work as well. So let's make a deal. Serious offers only please. Let my loss be your gain. Pleasant Hill, CA
I'm currently on the east coast setting up an office here for my business, which has eaten all my time. The car is located at my business partner's house in Pleasant Hill, CA, (along with my other car).
I can arrange for him to be there for you to view the car if you are nearby. He can't store it much longer and I am tied up here right now so I need to get rid of it as soon as possible. I hate to do it, but right now getting the business I am working on launched is more important to me. So if the buyer is local my biz partner will probably be handling the transfer/sale. Shipping it is an option I'll consider too. I just need to do it soon. Last edited by dcatts; October 4th 2004 at 19:49. |

By the way you did a nice job on your blue bug. I wish I had gotten to finish mine.

It's a long way for me to go, but how much money would it take to drag it home? And could it wait in CA until we have a flatbed heading to Texas?
Thanks, Randy

Shipping it cross country to where i am now was quoted at $950. So I assume texas would be a lot cheaper. It could wait a little while but the first decent offer I get takes it.

I'm in the film business and we have flatbeds hauling film equipment here from LA about once every two months. I would try to get it on a free ride first. PM me if you wish on what you feel is a decent offer.
Thanks, Randy

This is still available. $900 obo. That doesn't even cover what I spent on the paint and body. Save this bug from the crusher!
Buyer must arrange pickup. |

Brian, just sent you a link to more pics of the car. Sorry I haven't been online for a few days so I didn't know you had responded.
