linkage problem

i am a 16 year old enthusiast from georgia and i am a little ways into my own gl bug which will be my first car. it can not be too extreme as i am still in high school, but i can gurantee it will knock the socks off of any honda at school. anyways....over winter break i put dual solex 40's on it (not my first choice but they were free) and a scat universal linkage. the problem is that the linkage going to the 1-2 cylinder carb is hitting the heater inlet on the fan shroud which prevents it from opening to full throttle . i have checked and re-checked everything and it follows the directions exactly. what do i do? thanks for all your help. -nick

You might be able to clearance it by slightly denting the the duct outlet.

If you are talking about the heater hose outlet,,, It should have no effect, maybe a little less flow on that sides heat.

Just a little TLC. and if that doesn't work, a real big Hammer!

I had to do exactly the same thing (except on the other side) when I put on my dual Weber 40's. I just bent the ducting a little bit and haven't noticed any dfference....o yeah, except way more power
