944 Brake conversion - Kerscher disks no longer available!

Guys, I currently have a set of 944 S2 (same as Turbo) front calipers and slotted discs (diameter=298mm width=27mm). I want to fit them onto a beam beetle.

I read the tech article on here that suggests using a Kerscher disk and CB dropped spindle. I have emailed Kerscher (in german and in english) and not had a reply, and I can't find the appropriate disk on the website. Is there anywhere else I can get these disks from?

Option 2:- get a new caliper mounting bracket. I still have to get a hub (I can get a hub off an 87 944 turbo) and do the machining work. The calipers have a bolt spacing of 94mm. Do I just make up an adapter as shown in the tech article, and the bearing spacers?

Any help much appreciated

Steve

Custom Speed Parts

I have been looking on the Custom Speed Parts website in Germany for the disc rotor required for the 944T front brake conversion.

Is part number 407 075 5130BL the one I need???

The link is www.csp-shop.de

Thanks

Steve

Kerscher Disks no longer available.

Feel like I'm talking to myself a bit here!

Got a reply from Kerscher in Germany saying that they only sell front brake disks for a 1302/3 beetle and not a Ball joint beetle.

So the main forum article re putting 944 brakes is now out of date??? Does anyone know of an alternative supplier

Thanks

Steve

Hmm. Didn't know I was that outdated. I will be running the (earlier)Kerscher front disc on a CB front spindle that has been modified to accept the 944 Turbo rear caliper. The mock up fits togther perfectly. Just for looks I got the discs drilled as well. Looks cool. Check on Ebay, Samba, etc., you might get find an earlier set of the Kerscher ventilated front discs. Good luck.

Steve,

it is very important to use a rear 944T caliper on the front if you want to use Kerscher disks. It is interesting to here that they do not sell the kits anymore.
You can get the disks and kits still at CSP.

If you have all the stuff that is needed from a Porsche 944 S2 I would suggest to pic up some hubs and get some spacer machined for the bearings.
This will be a lot cheaper. If you have low offset rims you might want to look and machining the hub like in my article where you got the information from. Drawings are there. It takes out some of the track increase.

Thanks Guys, I can get a front hub from and 87 944 Turbo (I can get the disks and calipers too! I'm going to be running Boxster Turbo Twists with an ET55 offset on the front and ET50 on the rear. So the bearing spacers I need are in the article (the French bit I guess). I'll try it that way then.

Thanks
