Battery relocation

I have moved my battery to the front wheel well. The battery now sits in the spare tire. It is fixed to the tire with clamps at the base of the battery, and a wooden board holds the battery at the top. The tire can't tip forward as it hooks under the tank (this is on an 03 remember). The earth wire mounts on a bolt that holds the wing on, and the live goes back through the bulkhead to the right of the tank (looking at it from the front), and down inside the car following the wiring loom. It then joins the old live wire where the battery used to be. It was quick and cheap to do, is very secure, and doesn't take up much extra space under the bonnet. The handling improvment is instantly noticable.. I will take loads of photos, and maybe it can become a tech article?

Congrats! I have done a similar thing Chris

Be sure to cover the Positive terminal on the battery so that there is no chance of grounding it out in case of an accident.

I bought one of those red rubber terminal covers from a Marine Supply store.

Moderators, give me a shout if you would like me to do a tech write-up. I can get some better quality pictures too if needed.

Chris

I was wondering if I could get you to get me a set of those connecter covers. I cannot find them anywhere.

Btw, I saw your car in Volksworld this month!
