Decklid question
Hi all,
I am pretty new to this forum, but had been infected with the aircoolded virus 15 years ago. Probably someone can gimme some answers: Got an new t1 engine as seen on the pic below: Has Riechert oilregulator??(not sure for that translation) instead of stock oilcooler and front AKG oilcooler. So my question is: can I run it with stock decklid without louvers, or do I need a decklid like 1302/1303 to prevent overheating? The wiring still looks confused; pic was taken a few minutes after installing. It's a 'Jubi' bug. 1 of last 2400 limited editions officially sold by Volkswagen Germany in 1985/86. Thx in advance Cheers P. |

What kid of HP (PS) does the motor have?
What is the oil temperature? I had a 1776 in Germany with about 100HP with the closed decklid and it was fine with the Mercedes front oilcooler. Finally a new member from Germany . Does DssD mean Duesseldorf? Gruesse aus Kanada. Alex |

You are right, DssD is short for Duesseldorf!
Its a 2109ccm with genuine Oettinger 82 mm crank. edit: Not sure about hp, cause after installing the engine I had only the pleasure to drive the bug to my garage. I am not allowed to drive it legal on streets till April 2004. Hopefully I get some dealers-plates these days to check out the engines' performance on dyno at Viktor Guenther soon. Want to keep that stock appearance of the car and hopefully I can run the original decklid. Is it possible? Last edited by Polkaschlingel; November 13th 2003 at 21:05. |

I thought so.....my home town is Kaarst bei Neuss.
Welcome to the forum. I would test it. If the oil temps go to high get a 1303 decklid. Yo do not use a Porsche fan so the air get sucked in the shourd from the back anyways. Do you have the engine tin around the tranny or better at the front of the engine to seal it to the firewall? I would think it should be okay. You could also ask Gerd Weiser. Alex |
