BMW M5 calipers

Hello, I am from Belgium and new to this forum.

I have a complete BMW E39 M5 brake setup in my garage and would like to use the rear calipers on my bug.
Was thinking of using 944 arms and have a bracket machined to fit the caliper.
The mounting points for the BMW calipers are 78mm's apart.
I took some pics of the caliper but can't seem to get them small enough to upload here.
Anybody know if this has been done before? I have 6 pod Torax calipers in the front

Won't be using the M5 calipers any more, just bought a complete Porsche 911 Carrera 4 brake setup (front + rear) that whas on a 1303 bug for only 500 Euro so these will be bolt on in the rear

How is the off set on the rims.. same?
did you need to mod much to get this to work?
Im not happy w/the after market set i got..

My rims are 16 x 7 with an ET of 35mm, I've got less of an offset than when I had the stock Bug disks on.

I had the Bug disks turned down at a local engineering shop to make hubs up, and then had 3mm turned off of the face of the hub (this is OK as the hubs were THICK German blank disks to start with) Then I mounted the disk to the hub from behind, to do the 'top-hat method of mounting the disks would have pushed the wheel out 8mm on either side......... not good when clearance is already an issue! So in all, now that I've got the M3 brakes on I've actually got a track DECREASE of 6mm........ good eh? I've also worked on the tyre(tire) sizes to gain a little more clearance to, I've gone down from a 195 x 50/16 to a 175 x 50/16 (hard to track down!) which gives me a wee bit more room to play with.

The calipers are mounted on a 10mm thick plate mounted to the spindles, with one off mounting brackets bolted/welded on to this, a bit of work with a micrometer/ruler/depth guage but not that much. The only problem I've had is that I've had excessive pedal travel due to the Bug master cylinder not being able to push enough fluid into the new calipers. I've got aound this by using a Porsche 944 split master cylinder and this has sorted the problem in one hit! ('had to shorten the push-rod by 5mm, but that was only to make it more comfortable).

What set up are you using? what's so bad about it? Can it not be improved before you take any more drastic measures?
