relocating tie rods

Can someone explain to me why if using 944 spindles on a 1303 do we have to relocate the tie rods (944 mount from bottom, require from the top). When I had my setup with the stock spindles but adjustable struts, I had bump steer problems so I relocated the tie rods from top mount to bottom mount.
So wouldn't the 944 spindle with bottom mount tie rods already come ready to cure bump steer?

not automatically. I'd imagine you'd have to lower your '03 by about 6" to have the track rods sitting where they should be if using 944 spindles. It's all about keeping them as close to horizontal as possible when the suspension is in a neutral state. This minimises the deflection in both up and down directions and thus the bump steer...

When using the 944 spindles you'll want to mount the tie rod ends on the top of the spindle. The 944 spindle itself already has it's arm dropped.
