if you could choose what would it be?
hey guys, what would you say for the aprx power outputs of the following setups? im not trying to compare the type1 to the type 4, i just basically can build one or the other. i drive the car about 6-10K miles a year so i dont mind if the engine will only last me 5 years or 50K miles. i dont drive further than an hour drive away. but this is my only car so i need to make sure i make the right decision. i plan on taking the car to the strip at least once or twice in my life so what do you think the following will pull off in the quarter pushing 2000lbs and stock 73 irs tranny?
engine 1: type 4 2054 96mm p+c webcam lifters webcam 86b? stock 71mm crank reworked stock 2L rods reworked rebuilt heads from headflowmasters, 2l 914 heads stock solid rockers dual 44 webbers or stock fuel injection t1 oil pump headers to be determined later but i was thinking of using the j tube idea with the bus header and magnaflow muffler engine 2: type1/3 1915 94mm mahle forged p+c bugpack light lifters engle 110 or 120 counterweighted 69mm crank stock reworked rods top of the line cb perf cnc heads or 44x37.5 super flow heads stock rockers dual 44 webbers merged header engine 3: type 1/3 2007 or 2110 90.5mm mahle forged p+c bigpack light lifters not sure about cam choice demello 78mm or 82mm CW crank stock rods clearanced top of the line cb perf cnc heads or 44x37.5 super flow heads stock rockers dual 44 webbers merged header thanks alot guys, if it werent for this forum, id be so lost. ryan Last edited by 73notch; July 24th 2003 at 14:23. |

Ryan, You never mentioned compression ratio, I would set them all at 9-1 myself so,
Engine 1: I would guess 110hp, more with a better header, decent street engine but I think you would get bored with it.... Engine 2: about the same hp as engine #1 but cheaper to build Engine 3: With the right cam 130hp and much more fun, about the same cost as engine #1 These are just my conservitive guesses so take it for what it's worth. (not much, really) ken |
