Where I'm at right now.
I've had my 1302 since 1990, it was my first car and it has a lot of sentinmental value attached to it. The previous owner used it for driving back and forth from the bars so it was a little beat up. I gave it a good loving home, and learned a lot about working on cars and Volkswagens. After 15 years it's going to get retired next weeked.
I just got back from finding it's replacement...a very clean '72 that only needs a engine, never been hit and zero rust. I'll hopefully drag it over to the house in the next couple of days and snap some photo's of it. I'll miss mine a lot, but to get it where it will be a good foundation for what level of GL I'm doing it will take a lot of time and money when I could just start over with a solid foundation. I'll be stuffing my old 1302's suspension into it and bolting in the type IV 2.0L that I have laying around so that I'll have reliable 2nd car and when I get my 944 rear suspension/brake bits tuned up and a set of 17's then I'll finally get the German Look. Till then it will be a quasi-GL. Nick |
