924/944 Rear Camber Adjustment?
Those Two bolts in the center of the spring plate...
Do they adjust camber? If not, what are they, and why would we want these style spring plates? |

These two (the RH pair) are the adjusting bolts for the camber. The RH one is the clamping bolt and the LH one has the eccentric adjustment. Loosen both bolts so that there is some drag on the RH bolt then, using a very large open ended but thin spanner that you may have to adapt from a standard one turn the adjuster that will give an up and down movement. that up and down movement will adjust the camber and the ride height. To reset the ride height you will have to turn the torsion bar. You will have to alternate between the two to get the desired ride height and camber hence why the 944 has a reputation for being a b*****d to set up at the rear. As the car is lowered this increases the camber slightly, which may help when you are making the adjustments. When I provisionally set the rear on our 1303 super I set the TBs accurately with 20* gauge as the starting point with all the eccentrics in the mid position. This gave me about a 2" drop and 1 1/4 - 1 1/2* neg camber that was pretty close to what I was looking for. Any adjustment on the camber bolts will hopefully not affect the side to side ride height but I will accept a compromise without the need to pull the TBs. Clive |
