Tail Lights
I own a 72 Super, and I like the 73-up tail lights (similar to the smoked ones, but only clear, available a cip.com). Do they make these for this year, or can I make the 73 fit or do I have to give up

Perhaps the easiest way would be to fit a set of rear wings that accept the lights you want to use? Not 100% sure it's possible but I don't see why not.

Absolutely, it is possible. I have heard it is best to buy in pairs to make sure both are originals or both are aftermarket or ... well, so they match. Apparently, there can be subtle differences even though there shouldn't be any.
I have no personal experience but I have heard the rear wings (fenders) are interchangeable -- and that extends to standard Beetles with Supers as well. There may be a cut-off year with interchangeability, but I would think all IRS years are fair game. The '72-to-'73/'79 certainly isn't a problem. |

They bolt up the same, but looking at them they have sligth differences, as well as the later ones have a huge gapping hole. I'm doing that to my '71 1302, i already got a set of modern looking taillights.

Bumper Hole
How do you fill the bumper hole, since you don't need it that large (not using overriders)

73 Beele's and Super's have normal bumpers and elephant feet tail lights. There some rubber seals made for the later bumpers with the non-shock absorber brackets also.

I don't remember so you'll want to do a search of the major vw aftermarket companies, such as Bugpack, Scat, Empi, aircooled.net...I have seen them but I can't remember where.
