Question Porsche Bolt Pattern in Stock Drums

I finally found the wheels that I am looking for and they have a 5x130 bolt pattern. Can stock rear drums be drilled for this pattern and be safe? I will eventually go to rear discs but this would allow me to get the wheels on the car a lot sooner. I have not had the drums off in a while and can't remember if there is enough material to drill into other than for the stock pattern.

Many people have done this. I would not do any HARD cornering like SCCA or auto-X but for regular driveing it should be fine. I woulld get them drill and spot faced on the back side, then use press in studs. You can get 14mm studs from AutoZone. Get your studs before you take the drums and rotors to the machine shop so they will know what size to drill them. The bug bolt patern is 4x130 so they will pick up one of the VW holes and drill 4 more.

yes they can be redrilled. quite a few have done it. for the type of driving you will be doing they should be safe enough. i would be concerned if you were stressing them harder, but you should be fine. good enough to get by on for now.

Know of a good machine shop that could redrill both the drums and the front discs near NE Atlanta?

dave meant 5x130, not 4x130.

he hooked me up with a guy down in his area to press the studs into my CSPs back when i had them. good work and cheap. i think his name was Scott.

Isaid the bug patern is 4x130 and the porsche patern is 5x130 so 1 hole from the bug patern wil be used and 4 new ones will be drilled.
Try Scott Perdue at 20th Century Tool (770) 474-4186 or (770) 474-2410.
If he is not real busy he can turn them quick. If he is backed up it might take a while. Tell him I sent you.

Sorry to dig one up so deep in the bone yard.

I've been searching for a pair of rear drums in the 5 x 130 bolt pattern. The closest I've found is CIP1 that has a drum with the Porsche pattern & a Chevy pattern in the same drum (yeah, the wheel has 10 stud holes). I'm pulling just over a g on the skid pad and I'm not going to consider re-drilled or multi-pattern drums. I'm not going to rear discs. If anyone has a lead, I'd appreciate the turn on.
Thanks

Jaytech forge, and So Cal imports sell blank drums, or can drill them for you.
