Oil cooler take off plate. Which of the two lines is out/in?
Oil cooler take off plate. Which of the two lines is out/in?
As seen just below and to the left (in the picture) of the Mallory Dizzy. Right beneath the Vac can. Need to know ASAP as we are plumbing the Thermostat up today! Cheers, Sam C

I'm pretty sure the outlet closest to the engine is 'out' and the other one is 'in'.
I will confirm tonight. If you have some oil in the engine already, you could turn it over to see which outlet the oil comes out of. Sandeep |

Noticed your fan basket has been "adjusted" at the top, is this to clear the decklid 'cos the 'box has moved the engine back? Also how tight a fit is the Mallory on the fan strap? I've been told that they don't fit! (obviously not true looking at your pic.) cheers Martin

First of all...nice looking motor. That appears to be a sharpbuilt fan shroud...do you have any pics of the actual case machining? Also, where did you get the fan housing strap?

There are NO clearence issues with the engine in my car. Plenty of room The Mallory is a perfect fit, there is a nice gap between it and the fan strap. enough room to get a finger in between them (and I dont have small fingers.) Quote:
No pics of case machining, sorry. Fan housing strap is a BAS item. Cya, Sam C

Am I right in saying that's Mike Ghia old drive train? I'm trying to ascertain wether my (horribly expensive ) W - cabrio decklid will clear my fan (same as you with 911/01 & 911 cooling) as the body is still jacked up off the 'pan to finish the welding & the engine's in a different garage. Martin

Had a thought, did you fit the 'box with the body on the chassis? Got a friend oop north who's in the process of adding a 911/01 in front of his 2.9 :silly: T4. Got any helpful hints regarding the 'box fitment as I fitted my 911/01 to a bare chassis. Martin

Erm , strip everything off thats not needed, get the box on a jack and begin offering up... Work out where its fouling, trim/weld... offer up again, trim/weld as needed... Keep doing this until it fits. The box bolts to the frame horns just like a normal bug box, so we had a point to aim for. Fitting the T4 engine was easy... We have around 90 hours of time tied up in fitting the box to the car though (2 of us). Not to be taken lightly, its a lot of work! Cya, Sam C

That sounds just like my method of fitting the body back over the bare chassis & 'box.
See where it fouls, smack the 'shell with a lump hammer. see where it still fouls smack it harder. see where it still fouls, heat it to cherry red & smack it with a bigger hammer. Technical innit? Have you used the stock shifter? I've got a chunk of 914/4 floorpan let into the T1 spine with a 911 shifter attached. My friend Mark wants to use a 'standard' T shifter & I'd be interested how it works. Also (loadsa questions!) how did you cope with modifying the shift rod, I was OK as I could remove the 'box with ease which was useful as I had 8 attempts at getting a smooth shift action & not foul the conduits in the spine. Thanks once again.
