Question Strut Inserts

Hi everyone, I'm trying to find some shorter strut insurts for this mod I attempting. I have used to sport spring from Rocky Moutain, but when I get them together there is still to much clearence. So next option is a shorter insert. Can anyone tell me where to get shorter inserts? If so e-mail me.

Hi

Im not sure what year model your struts are but the later Beetles used the shortests struts, they are about the same lenght as Mazda RX7 ones I used in my 1302.

Even shorter are Mk1 Golf shocks that most of the aftermarket adjustable struts use.

1302 Modle

Hi, thanks for your replies. I'm up grading to the 944 brakes, so I will use the 1303 lower control arm and I am also trying to do somethng different such as; use a 944 strut housing and removing the lower spring holder. This will lower the spring 3.25 inch or allow the spring to be less tense. I now find that it works, but in order for everthing to come together I need a shorter strut insert. The insert is the one that binds the spring and give the height and ride. I hope this helps, one thing that a added bonus is I will be able to adjust the camber at two places. One at the strut and two at the lower control arm like all Super Beetles, if it workes.

944 struts are much larger (tube diameter) than 03 struts, but then they arn't really any different, so you might as well use 03 struts..

1303 Struts

Hi, I not sure if I said I was trying somethig, but with a 944 strut you have the camber adjustment on the lower strut. I not sure if I read on this site were there was not enought camber adjustment. possibly the story was concerning the rear. The 1303 aftermarket strut are good but not camber adjustment. Thus the need for shorter inserts. With the 1303 it will only lower the ride some three inches, unless you go aftermarket
