New Project Arriving Soon!
Well guys, I know its been a long time since I've owned a GL'er. I I went off
the path for a while and built a 67 Resto-Cal w/ a 2276 T1 & 48 IDA's.... Well now that Ive got that out of my system, its time to get back on track The next project on the chopping block is a 1969 Ghia Vert done in what I like to call Resto-German Look. Im thinking Black Car, black top, all factory chrome trim, factory bumpers, maybe mocha/tan/cream interior, 2056 T4 w/ Dual 40 Dells and a 3.88 Tranny from a 73 Super that I have. I will be using a 2" Narrowed CB Beam w/ CB Disc Brakes & CB Dropped Spindles. The plan is to go more towards the luxury side of the German Look, rather then the race inspired look that alot of GL'ers go with. I want to make it quiet, comfortable, and also totally reliable. I want to be able to get in it, drive anywhere, to any show and not have to worry about all the extra crap that goes with running a Big High Performance Motor. I still want to build another race inspired car as well and have been looking for a nice 1303 to build a nice Kafer Cup Style Car. I know, I know, Im getting off track... Anyways, back to the Ghia Vert, I cant decide what wheels to run. Its really driving me crazy. I really dont want to run 17's for 2 reasons: First off, I think the Ghia's wheelwell looks a little to small visually and second, 16's will give a little more rubber, which will provide more comfort then running 40's series tires on 17's. Here's a couple pics of the car and of the wheels Im thinking of...

Me likes. But come-on, get the porker brakes on the beast. 'Luxury preformance' right? It's a shameless plug but I'm cleaning up the inventory, I got a full set of Boxster brakes. Hey! Boxster wheels deserve boxster brakes. (i'm so sad, someone slap me)
I know exactly what you intend on doing with that car. It's kinda like my super, really comfy for long drives. One thing I did with the super that is anti-performance is that I loaded it up with dynomat. Heavy yes, but worth it. I'm not as young as I used to be, and I'll settle for a little slower but quiteter (sp?). Keep us posted! L |

That sounds like a dynamite project. The engine sounds close to mine. Your tranny sounds perfect for the Florida interstates. If you can mate brakes and wheels from a similar source, I recommend it from personal experience. I'm sure there is a nice shameless plug discount attached.

Lanner, exactly. Not as young as I used to be and really enjoy those
creature comforts. Especially since I got rid of my 911 and replaced it with an Infiniti, getting a little more spoiled...lol. Boxster brakes would be sweat!!! The only reason Im running the CB brakes if because i have them and it will get the wheels on the car asap. But Im definitely interested in a Boxster upgrade down the road

I put almost 5 rolls od Dynamat in my car. Yes it is heavy but it is quiet. Next time I will use "Lizard Skin" for the sound dampaning. It is 1/4 the weight and does a better job.
