Has anyone tried...

using a tranny lift kit with an EJ20/2/5 to gain more ground clearance?

Any success?

Cheers,
James

You can gain some with the SOHC engines, but DOHC the heads come extremely close to the inner wings even after the engine is pushed forwards to fit within stock bodywork..

Yip, its a SOHC engine.
So in raising the engine/gearbox you would need to move it all forward?
Then would that interfere with the fire wall?
Its a non turbo engine. Would the intake need to be rotated 180 degrees?

Just trying to find out what I am getting my self into!

Thanks again,
James

There are some good pictures of a bug that has had this done on the aussieveedubber forum, look for username subaruboxer. He hasn't really raised the trans, just modified the rear cradle, loads of good info in his posts and he has gained a lot of ground clearance..
