1303 sti project 325hp+ on the road!!

hello

i'm johan and from holland and read a lot on this forum
i also have a project off my own i'm now busy with it for 2 year
i have a 1303 from 1972 and have done some mods

but i started with this

front and rear porsche 944 trailing arms
944 disc's and boxter calipers
rear mod to unibail coil overs
porsche G50.03 964 transmission
KEP connection kit a clutch kit
subaru ej207 sti engine 2002 runned 36000miles
custom intercooler inlets
custom wheels 16"steel rims widend front 2,5cm
rear 6,5cm
and much more

also have a full rollcage and doorbars (removaible)

did al the engine wiring (big job)

custom 3"exhaust magnaflow mufflers

custom inlets on the front wing hope it will work to let the airflow out off under wings at high speed

intercooler inlets placed the rear windows 15cm inside and airflow is getting out to the original air outlet under the rear window

i'm now busy to get the body ready for paint
but it is getting slowly i'm also renovating the house

this is how the engine look like now

custom little wing to improve air flow to intercooler

Cool project, I think I have read about it before. I don't remember where. I'm currently searching for some 5x130 steel rims to use with winter tires, and remembered exactly your project, where you said you used some van wheels. Are these fiat ducato/peugeot boxer/citroen jumper rims? They look pretty nice on the bug..

1303 sti 325hp+

long time ago
but i thought showing how it is looking now

intercooler intake both windows are moved 15cm about 6 inch inside in the rear
outlet is under the little wing on the back

youtube:

http://youtu.be/-2wilTC5Cs0

http://youtu.be/GrFrrbbncL0

http://youtu.be/fae2gHi20fE

http://youtu.be/L1PKfK_BaWE

car spec:

VW 1303 beetle 1972

engine

2002 subaru wrx sti (bugeye model) ej207 sti engine VF35 turbo
engine is stock
ecu: 2002 sti jdm ecu (i used jdm ecu because no need of immoblizer and keys instead of euro models)
ecu is ecutek remapped to 98 oct fuel and runs around 1,5 bar boost
should have at least 325hp+. it is not been on the dyno yet
rev.limit 7800rpm
i can get 120klm (75mph) in second gear

exhaust:
custom made 3" stainless steel with 2 magnaflow 4" mufflers
i'm driving with DB-killers it is now 2 times 2,25"
but it has no influence on the power or spool up of the turbo
but driving without db killers makes it like a rally car sound
there is a youtube link above

gearbox:

porsche 911(964) G50.03 5 speed gearbox incl shifter
that is modified to custom shifting linkage

clutch adapter kit

KEP: adapter kit
sachs stock 911 pressure plate
and high performance 6 puck kep clutch plate
spec can hold up to +/- 850nm

suspension

front: fk-coil overs
944 hubs and brake discs
porsche boxster brembo calipers
custom made steering arms/rods
custom made stabilizer bars(cupstrebe
rear: 944 suspension arms and brake discs
porsche boxster brembo calipers
custom made stabilizer bars(cupstrebe)
red9design uniball system
spax coil overs

wheels/rims: steel rims 16inch rear245/45/16 front215/35/16
pre 65 chrome covers

fenders front fully steel: front widened 2,5cm 1 inch
rear widened 6,5cm 2,5inch

fully roll cage incl doorbars
2 gt3 racing seats
4 point belts
omp steering wheel

2002 sti instrument cluster
boost, oil pressure and oil temp gauges.

and much more

i have to do some little things on the interior
and polish the paint
and i need to make a front splitter
because when doing around 200klm (125mph)
it is getting to search on the road a i need to do little
steering corrections just like in old porsche's
i going to make a splitter in the front to improve this
when it is doing better and i can test it on the autobahn next year
(i'm from holland and live 15klm from the autobahn ;D )

hope you like it

Installed a kamei spoiler and made a splitter underneath
For more stable drive at higher speed
Around 180 the car is getting light in the front
When i get enough downforce
I will do a autobahn run soon
