Laser cut brackets
Its a long time since any progress on my car while being busy with the new purchase which just stormed through the MOT with the only serious thing being a rear brake hose corroded.
These arrived in the post yesterday : Laser cutting is fantastic and was cheap here and the turn around time from diagram to delivery was only a couple of days too. DC developments in Norwich did them for all you UK people. So finally I have all the components to get the brakes mocked up for hoses and lines. The actual build is still a way off should go together like an Air-fix kit when the time actually comes but plans are constantly hatching and evolving. Al, I presume we are looking at some caliper conversion brackets? If so, the size would imply they are for a Volvo Truck!!
What brake set up are you contemplating? Clive |

Apologies about the pic size again!
Clive: Brackets are the fronts to go with hub machining I had done ages ago on drum spindles. >85 944 NA brakes all around, have a stanadard MC and a 944 tapered one to have a look at for when I get around to it. Though I keep thinking a balance bar and hydraulic clutch would be nice to have... Rich: A shade under £50 delivered and it took less than a week from posting a cheque to receiving the parts. |

Do you wish to share those CAD-files?

All freely available on the net/many books. I'll sort out some diagrams hopefully later today along with the rest of the brake build.

A how to I posted a while back on VZi...
Pre 85 944 N/A hubs, modified for beetle spindles. These use standard beetle bearings but a thinner grease seal, available from most bearing places. Spot faced stock drum spindles. This is important, others ARE different. Be aware. There is loads of alternative methods on GermanLook. And the front machining Fitted with bearing adapters Machining Diagrams: BEETLE spindle, PORSCHE hub stock (all from Ricola's website) Bearing adapters PORSCHE hub mods Caliper adapter plate - wider holes are tapped M12x1.50 Last edited by al_kaholik; September 15th 2009 at 13:37. |

Unfortunately the backing plates rub on the discs so I will be taking these off. I suppose they could be modified but I'll have to look into it at a later point in time
Also if anyone has some three hole rear >85 NA backing plates I'm after some |
