Joels Bus Engine Dyno'ed

Well it went on the dyno this afternoon. After sorting out the Lamda/Brain wiring and plumbing it fired up like a champ and run smoot as butter. It seemed a little lean at first but Jake had me pull the screens from each port of the fuel distributor (good for 3 hp.) and it was just right. I didn't even touch the CO adjustment. She made 94 hp. and 124 ft. lbs. of torque (super flat curve from 2000 to 4000 peak at 2500) and ran cool as the other side of the pillow. Far better power and torque cure than the same combo on carbs. Other than the Mallory, Raby Camper Special Web Cam, extremely tight balance job and the CIS w/Lamda it is bone stock. I ame very pleased with the numbers. Even with the heater boxes belching out hot air and raising the air temp in the dyno room to 140 deg. F. it still made great numbers. Now I just need to find the time to install it in the bus and get the bus on the road (been sitting for 3 years).

I am very pleased with the numbers. Thanks Jake for the chance to learn a lot about the Type 4 and build a great powerplant for the Bus.

CIS Rules :agree:

It is in and I cranked it up yesterday. No leaks. Just need to turn the idle down a bit and get some rubber on it. Then it is off to the DMV.

Joel has been cleaning it up. No more time for waiting for the Audi wheels , put a set of tires on the cleaned up stock wheels(Tires Plus had a sale 195/75/14's $22.50ea.).

I have a battery draining issue to solve, I think it is the voltage regulator. Tell Peggy to keep the Audi in the garage at night

The 1st drive wasn't a long on (yesterday), the front brakes bound up and we had to limp it home. Only got as far as the gas station. This morning I replaced the calipers and master cylinder. Joel and I fired it up and hit the road in the afternoon and we drove the $#!* out of it for about an hour, pulled in and looked it over then out on the road again. We burt about 1/2 tank of fuel and both were very happy with the power. :agree:

Just won a set of very clean 16x7 5 spoke A4 wheels on Ebay (under $200). I will pick them up in Alpharetta tomorrow. They have what looks like new Continental tires. It might put be behind getting them on the bus but I would love to get rid of the sidewall flex of the 14 inch wheel/tire combo. I could always get the wheels and seats in the bus and leave the black car here and have a GL bus for the weekend. :agree:

Link to wheels.
