Subaru fuel systems
Hi, I'm wondering if everyone with a subaru engine, turbo or not can post what they did for their fuel system, ie surge tank, plumbing, main tank venting, etc.
I will be building my fuel system next week and what I have planned is a Carter 100gph 8psi pumping into a small surge tank, that going to a Walbro 255lph inline pump then the return goes back to the main tank. The idea is that the Carter pump will flow more than the walbro and I don't have warmed fuel coming back to the surge tank. Do you think its necesary to have the surge tank return back to the main tank to purge the air out of it? Thanks Mike

I'm going to weld in the section of subaru tank with the stock fuel pump and additional baffling to the stock tank, probably making it bigger at the same time. Last time I did it with external pump I found it a bit noisy...

When you had the external pump did you run a surge tank?

No I didn't but I wouldn't recommend that, I ran an in-line tank of about 1/2l and was careful when fuel level was low, the last thing you want is to go lean on boost! Car was a daily driver too so not being thrown around all the time...
