HID Projector behind early glass.......
I've been working on and off over the past year on this template for a HID projector in a early housing.
After alot of reworking, trial and error, i have something. Need to close the gap around the housing, use something other than capscrews to fasten it, and decide how to finish the plate. I haven't tried putting it in the fender yet. Plate is Lexan, and the Bixenon projector is from a FX45. here's some pics: Have already started to make another pair, to address the above issues.

Very nice job! Are they bi-xenons? They look nice and short.
I did a retro fit of some Jaguar XJ bi-xenons in my daily driver and made the shroud out of a pet food tin and a paint tin lid! Looked good once smoothed and painted and the light output is amazing! Rich

Looks great Rich! I tried making a bezel to go overtop, like what you've done, but it looked akward in the oval shape.
These are Bi-Xenons too. I like the carbon idea, then i'd have to paint the inside of the housing black or the body colour (Seal Grey). Maybe use that carbon tape crap, but it may melt and peel off.

I was thinking of using the projectors from a supra (main beam) and fitting bi-xenon bulbs. Is this correct? I mean, in bi-xenon its the bulb that makes it different (like the twin fillament H4) or the rojector has to be for a bi-xenon application?

Bi-xenons only have one bulb, switching between dipped and main beam is done by a solenoid which controls a flapper infront of the bulb so they are completely different light units... Quite a few earlier cars used Xenon for dipped beam and a seperate halogen bulb for main beam.

Lenses on the bug
Hey Guys!
I´ve also thought about such lights - but I have a 85er bug and there is not so much place backwards for these lenses. Has somebody already made such lights in a mexican bug? yours 1200jubi |
