Dolly

..and I am not referring to women here!

So I looked around to see if there is a 'Garage' area on the forum but none looked appropriate. So my question is reall if anyone is interested in a How-To build a Dolly(maybe it goes by another name? French is Rôtisserie) for a chassis/shell? If so, where should I post it? If there is enough interest, I can see what can be done

Just to add, I am building mine PURELY for a Super(1303 to be exact. Not sure if a 1302 will be different). I am trying to make sure it is still a bit modular, so if needed for something else, just the mounts can be fabbed-up. For example, right now I am building it purely for the chassis only. But later when I get to the body work, I would want to be able to hook a body up with just two different front and back mounts.

This project is in the first day of build only, so not MUCH has been done yet. If I can be of any help individually, feel free to contact me. :agree:

Should this post/thread remain here, or move somewhere else?

I think I understand, a friend of mine has a '59 Ghia on a similar mount to what you're saying with two engine stands. Works great.

There's one engine stand at each end of the body and he made special mounts so it would mount to the bumper brackets. I really doubt you'd be able to do that with the chassis still attached. That would be way too heavy to pick up and put into the engine stand. These things are more than possible. but 1 thing you run into is having enough room from the top of the car to the ceiling (sp?) and trying to turn it over 180* you'd run into the problem of the top of the body hitting the ground. Know what I mean?

you talking about something like this but for a 1303 not a sand rail like the one in the pic, or something you can actually turn the car over on

Look at KCW-site. There an article/movie of making an dolly.

Don't make an dolly that fits to the bumpermounts (if it is an rotary-dolly), the back bumpermounts will bend after some time of hanging to one side.

Mikey,

I follow what you are saying, and that is taken into account...

Ribz,

It is not like the one in your pic. This will work on a rotary basis. Like a chicken on a pitch-fork

Racelook,

For now I am working on the chassis only. But soon after it is finished, I will be working on the body mounts. I do not plan on using the bumper mounts(or at least not using them only). I am not yet 100% sure how I will work this one out(I havent even looked at the body yet). I have seen the video clip on KCW. Theirs is kinda a universal one. The one I am building will have the measurements for a 1303 Super(not sure if it will work 100% with a 1302?).

So is this a "Go" then??
