what i propose to do with my beetle.

hi everyone. new to the site. i own a 72 1200 (got a 1600 in the back at the moment) basically i have always found german look cars more exciting than other looks, so basically i have decided to start my own project.
admitedly i dont have the more common (to german look) 130--- cars but for sentimental sake iam going to use mine. iam in the very early stages of planning but i will give you a basic list of what i would like to do with the old girl.

engine wise iam keeping with type 1 (shock horror sorry to the type 4 lot i did think about it)
im taking a 1600 AS code engine out to 1914
port and polish the heads
pair of webber 36 carbs
get it running to its full potential.
trying to get hold of an 1600 box
deep sump
oil cooler

wont change the stroke...i like it revvy.

suspension
i want to get a nice adjustable coil over kit (suggestions to good makes would be appreciated) adjustable front beam
rear suspension is a diffrent world to me so any ideas on that would be a massive help.

brakes im probably going to go porsche although i have seen alfa brembo brakes and aston martin ones which may well fit.
im not sure what some will say to this but im going to keep rear drums.....i will upgrade them and be using 5 stud. all brake lines replaced with braded hose.

im looking out for a set of porsche boxster split rims. i have seen this in volksworld on a german looker and i thought it was the most amazing thing ever.

body work.....well i dont care but i do want it a stealthy gunmetal, and i will have to get some wide arches....

obviously this is not a full list. tell me what you think.
advise where i may have issues would be a great help. i dont really aim for this to be a show winner but a nice clean street car is what i have aimed for.

I have just started off in this journey as well! I was looking around for a 71-72 Super and just drug one home. Not to many rust spots on it yet! But I will find out after I remove the body and get it blasted.
