71 gas gauge
We're new to all this ... just brought a 71 beetle and started work on it. Runs good ... needed new floor pans ... but it's roadworthy EXCEPT the gas gauge doesn't work. There's juice to one end of the gauge and at the gas tank. It's imbedded in the speedometer and I'm looking for some direction on where to fuind another one and whether the whole speedometer aasembly needs to be replaced. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

First pull the wire off of the tank sending unit and ground it. If the gauge reads full then the gauge is good and the sender is bad. If you get nothing the gauge or vibrator (the small relay looking thing on the back of your speedo) is bad.

Thanks ... no movement on the gauge. Do you have any idea where I can get one?

Click the CIP1 banner on this web site. They should have one. If you link from here it will help this site out with a little cash back to the site but will cost you nothing.
