bumper brackets

so i have a 74 super ive been workin on. heres my question. since my car is a 74...it has the ugly 5mph impact shocks in the bumper brackets. i have waiting to go onto the car are some 71-73 bumpers and brackets (front bumper having the turn signals in it) after looking at lots of german look pics...ive seen 74-up supers that have some sort of adapter bumper bracket and a bumper bracket trim piece that fits over the big ugly hole. if anyone knows what im referring too....any one know how or where i can get them? if not..any one ever just made the earlier brackets work in a 74-up bug?

this is about the best pic i can find of what im referring to.

Hi

Also try http://www.vwheritage.com You may find that the holes in the brackets don't line up with the holes in your body but that is easily fixed.

Hi

I don't know much about other countries VW bumper bracket styles, but in 1974 we got triangle front bumper grommet but still with same style rear bumper grommets as 68 and later bugs but still kept the same bumper bracket as earlier cars, in 75 we stayed with triangle front mount but went to the U shaped bumper bracket #9, we also got different rear bumper grommets #11

These newer bumper grommets #11 are very hard to get

Steve

Part 11 listed on there are available from VWH and cheap as chips from GSF in the UK, less than £1 each as they are the same as most with "Europa" bumpers front and rear
