Volkdent at the track

So Jason and I got a chance to meet up at Bugorama and I got some pics of his car and video of a couple of his trips down the drag strip. I wasn't able to have my race car done in time but I had my street car up there. Now I gotta temp Jason into coming down to Santa Cruz

And a couple videos, unfortunately he kept getting lined up in the far lane so I didn't get much good video.

Wow Will, thanks so much for uploading those videos!!! Great job on recording, it's very nice to see things from another point of view. Ya think maybe my car is a little stiff? The back end doesn't move an inch when I launch...

I'm glad you got the first run, it was my best and the only time I got to be in the near lane, so even if I just get worse and worse from here I have proof that I did one decent run!!!

Jason

FYI for those of you that don't think that's too fast, you'll have to forgive me as it was my first time at the track!!! I'll get better I promise.

Yeah, I was really hoping to get a couple more shots or videos of you in the near lane but no such luck. There's definitely more time in the car and once you get the launch down and get rid of the wheel spin I think you could find a mid to high 12 second run. The rear really stays put but the front comes up so there is some weight transfer there. Honestly though I'd rather have suspension the corners well than launches well.

Hi, please excuse me, do I see right? This pic is taken under the deck-lid, where the original engine was. But is that a steering rack in the rear then? What does it do?

It just acts as pivot points for the rear suspension, I was too lazy to take it out and fab up mounts. The whole rear suspension is going to be scrapped so I'm glad I didn't waste any time on it.

Jason I have been a fan of your build from day 1 and I love seeing its progression. Wish I could have made it up there for the show. Keep up the good work on that beast!!!

Are you running 18 inches on the back? Because they look bigger then your front wheels....

I think you should have gotten that rear steer going...

Thanks Phatty, I really like yours too. There were a couple other GLs there this time, I think we're slowly making inroads!!!

Yep, those are 18's on the back. They are hard to come by and they are knockoffs as Porsche didn't make a Cup II in 18 inches as far as I know. I just like the way they look...

Hey Panel, keep it down in the peanut gallery!!! I've been playing with the settings on the rear struts so now it only feels like it doesn't like me very much as opposed to it wanting to kill me...
