Sounds like a good look. :agree: I too am thinking of the Mate black for my '72 1302 GL, accept with no chrome and with all flat black racing wheels. so it will be completly blacked out and awsome

Sounds cool!

What kind of paint do you plan on using? John Deere Blitz Black?

As for wheels, do you want something with a classic look, european look, or something else? There is a thread going right now with some nice 5zigen (japanese) wheels that are black with a polished lip. If you decided to do disk brakes and you are willing to change the bolt pattern, your options are endless. Here is that thread I was talking about- http://www.germanlook.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=6134

Good luck!

just a regular pure black color with no clear coat, also i think im gonna go for RAW carbon fiber make it look even more nasty, as for the rims i want em black with silver lip, not a really friend of japanesse stuff so i think some euro rims would be nice to find, stock VW bolts in my brakes so gotta find something that fits

Here's an idea.

VW trends or Hot VW's did an article a few months ago about a guy who's bug was called "The Preacher". THAT was a BAD BOY bug....It's almost a hotrod style look when you get down to the bones of it.
If you want some inspiration I would deffinitely look up this guys car.
It was loaded w/ custom mods and NO RAIN GUTTER!?!?!
Neat car.

OK I found something!

Here's a link to some really SMALL pictures.
This thing is really amazing up close though. The pics don't do it justice at all.

Dude...

Check this out. I still haven't found my magazine yet, but from what I recall...
This guy had the rain gutters "shaved" off the entire length of the car and then had the doors "bent" inward at the top to keep watter from coming in...totally clean. He custom made the gauge mounts in the hood and the aluminu (or was it steel?) dig house was maked off w/ tape so he could sand in that stripe pattern in the metal. There was a TON of other weird mods on it too...

Foud it

That bug is in the March 2005 issue of VW Trends. its a 56 oval window. The gauge pods are fiberglass. its got a roof scoop and rear quarter window ducts. Along with porsch fuchs. I agree that its pretty sick.
