welcome to the dark side axe. jake bug you enough that you had to come over and take a look?

glad to have you on board. got anymore plans for the car? you need to get some shots and info of that engine up on here. oh, just switched over to your profile. when did you switch to DTM? obviously still very nice and probably needed with that monster, but the c/f shroud and that fan sure did look damn nice.

Ken, that's one 'Hot VW' -- hot rod that is. I'm interested in how you did the body work for the roof, deck and hood. Also, fiberglass fenders? Nice turn signals, how'd ya do that?

I went with the dtm because of some of the cooling results - the blue porsche shroud did look cool (it was kevlar) - I have to modify the rear a little bit so that I can get a brushed aluminin dtm back there - if you look closely you can see that the dtm had to be modified do that it would fit - with the berg 5 speed it pushed the engine back just far enough so that the default oil cooler and hose wouldn't clear. I'm getting a different decklid with wing back there.

The fenders are fiberglast 3 inch wider front 5 inch wider rear. There is a local shop here that did the body work for me ADS International. We cut the roof off and add steel rails for support underneath. I found the front hood at a junk yard but bgw spectre makes them still - The rear piece I have a mold for that I bought from ADS.

Furture mods
Momo steering wheel, redo the interior/top - refresh paint - custom wheels - the rear wheels have adapter plates. May switch to westach gauges. This car is a daily driver so I'm not really going the "show route" - fuel injection when the kit calson becomes available, maybe new heads when Jake finishes testing his new heads.

But in the meantime I'm going to be ripping up the highway from Orlando to Daytona

The turn signals are plasic cutouts with yellow paint on the back - fiberglass light holders behind. The whole rear section is one piece that covers the luggage tray - I will try to post more pictures

Where did you take the black grill that is over the deck-lid? Is it from a porsche?
