Consider Type IV or WC conversion, that much displacement in a Type 1 motor is just expense and headache in a magnesium nutshell.

a type 1 doesnt have to be a headache...there are a few big
type 1s on this board....

me, noh2o and quite a few others have 2276 T1s or bigger...

for your 2332 there are endless configurations with many didfferent
heads, cams, carbs, etc... so tell us what you want it to do and how
you want to use it and we can share give you the proper help...

You missed the "expense" part

how is it more of an expense then a T4?

I know type 4's make good daily drivers, but they are not cheap
by any means!

I agree. It depends on your intent and purpose, and if you are planning to build using used or new components. I just had VW Paradise build me a stout 2332 Type-1 turn-key engine from scratch with a bunch of upgrades and it was still less than a comparable HP Type 4.

84mm DPR crank
Scat chromoly flyweel (wedgemated)
Scat H-Beam rods
Magnum straight-cut gears
CB Wedgeports w/ ported Big Beef manifolds
AutoCraft ratio rockers/shafts
44IDF Redline Webers w/ XL linkage
Mallory Unilite dizzy w/ Mallory 6AL CDI
DTM shroud
A1 Sidewinder w/ SS MagnaFlow

Sorry, no pictures until I'm done fitting the DTM and all the tin and get them back from paint. As far as the cost difference, I spec'ed a 2332 T-1 from Jason/VWP and a 2275 T-4 from Jake Raby. I figured that if I was going to spend the money, I was going to have it built by one of the best! IMO, you can't loose in going with either guy. For my money and purpose, the T-1 was the way to go. My engine combo was just shy of $7K. That doesn't include the cost of the transaxle Kevin/KCR is building for me...
