Electric Fuel pump placement.
Must an electric fuel pump be mounted lower than the tank ?
I'm just wondering if it will pull the fuel up if it is mounted higher and there is no fuel in the line yet. Thanks, Rob. |

Electric fuel pump...
I've seen the placement go in a variety of places.
Some put it up front. I opted for the pack just left of the coil on the left firewall at about the same height as the coil. I would think that if the pump is mounted a tad higher than the tank...It shouldn't matter that much. Not like you're stickin' it on the roof right? |

depending on the type of pump. i have a holley black and holley specificlly says thier pump (as are most other electric pumps) are designed to push not pull so mount the pump where it can be fed by gravity. thats holley for sure you should check the manufacture of your pump.

Thanks guys.
It's a pump from a VW rabbit (Golf). Anybody know where these are located in a Golf ? (Meaning below or above the tank). Thx, Rob. |

What year? Is it the CIS feeder pump? If so must were in or near the bottom of the tank.

Not sure
IIRC it was off an '84 rabbit ? It's the round pump that is mounted in line. Rob. |

Sounds like the CIS pump (84 Rabbit) for the Bosch K Jetronic. Are you doing CIS Injection? If it is a Bosch CIS pump it puts out up to 125 psi. Does it have a threaded in ckeck vlv. on the elect. terminal end?

I'm using a Subaru motor
Yes, it does have a threaded check-valve on the top of the pump where the banjo fitting goes. Rob. |

The CIS pump should be more than enough for that.
