Air intake

Soon i wil be starting to make a hole in the front of my 02 to get cooling air to the radiator.
I dont want the ribbed original look. thats to easy to do.
I want a AC cobra design (the lower)on the intake but i dont know how this would look on a bug,or how to design it.
Anyone done something similar, or have any pic`s of intakes?

Another alternative is go for a Funcup front spoiler and modify it for the 02.

Any opinions?

Vin

Not sure exactly what you mean, but I can show you what 'just a hole' looks like

That`s a hole yeah.
I want something that follows the lines and shape of the car a little better.
Radiused edges and smooth shape.

I'm just going to cut a number plate sized hole with large radii, then black mesh so it will not be at all noticable with the dark paint. What colour is your car going to be?

Car is going to be dark silver.
That picture is somthing in the right direction. but i also want the mesh to be about 3cm in from the front plate if you know what i meen. i dont want the sharp edges from just cutting the plate. want to bend the edges innwards kind off.

Just what i would do...

1. cut the hole i like
2. transfer the pattern of the hole onto a cardboard (tricky part)
3. make a "tube" of the shape of the hole and weld it at the back of the front apron...

I know its a lot tricky to match the curve of the apron, but i believe its worth it. also first mark the hole, then cut about an inch or less (hole smaller than the sketch) so you will be able to make some relief cuts and bend the extra metal inwards to support the "tube"

or use the apron noted by kafer mike and make a "tube"
