Cam Selection for combination street & offroad
I am building a motor to use in my hummer style kit car.
The specifications on the motor are thus: 82x94 PC Full Flow Oil Dual 44IDF AJ Sims Level 6 Heads 42 X 37.5 valves, Dual valve springs 1.4 Scat Rockers (Optional depending on Cam advice) Mallory Unilite 1 5/8 Phoenix Header 9.5:1 Compression expected Rotating Assembly Balanced All German Doghouse Tin. I would like some advice on what Cam to use with this engine that would provide the following attributes: Good low-mid range torque without sacrificing too much on the top end. The vehicle will be used some off-road but mostly street driven. It will be a daily driver (hopefully) I am partial to WebCam but any and all suggestions would be welcome. Thanks... ...Steve |

I think a web 86B will work wonders. If you need more low down torque, try look for something a little smaller

122/125 with a stock...without a doubt.
The 86B is not a torque cam.........for pure torque try a 218.

Jake,
What is the fundamental performance difference or application difference between the 122/125 and the 218? Thanks in advance... ...Steve |
