0 - 60 mph performance

Hello,

I'm looking at getting a super beetle for a project in the coming months. I would like to build a German Look beetle with a large type 4 air cooled engine. I would be interested in the 0 - 60 times of anyone who has built a bug up to a similar spec. This would probably be mainly UK members, 60mph is the national speed limit in the UK and the bench mark performance time for most cars.

I would like the performance to be comparable to the current crop of "Hot Hatches" in the UK, 0 - 60 of about 6.5 seconds. Failing that 1/4 mile and 1/8 times would be useful.

I know that there is more to a cars performance than the 0 - 60 time, handling, chassis design, suspension etc but it would be nice to have a benchmark.
