how do wire in a type 4 alternater? into a 1303

the 1303 came with and alternator so the main, ground and B+ should just hook up normaly.

thanx i didnt know because my bug and my motor are in differnt place and i dint recal how the alternator hook up was.

A 73 was the first year for an alternator and had an external regulator. 74 went to an internaly regulated alternator. If you have an internal reg. car you should just have to match up the 3 wires. If you had an external regulator the 3 fat wires will be disconected from the regulator and spliced together and the small wire from the idiot light will splice to the smaller B+ wire to the alternator and the ground is still ground.

ya i have an externally regulated alt. my super is weird. som parts are 73 spec and some are 74 spec. i dont understand it.
ill be able to figure it out thanx for the help |

Welcome to the beauty of the 73 Super beetle.....It is the most Confusing of the SUpers, but i find it to be the most alluring!!
