i have found that the general rule to being safe and a good driver all comes down to not being a dumba$$. just go under the assumption that everyone else on the road doesn't meet this criteria.

D*amn, I feel old now.

Be careful out there, watch out for suv's, minivans, and blue hairs. Never drive next to anyone with dents in their car.

Also watch out for 90% of all female drivers cause they can't drive.
I remember when I was 16 I could barely see over the dash of my 1302, ah the good ole days. I agree with James if I only new then wut I know now...

"Also watch out for 90% of all female drivers cause they can't drive."

Well, its not that they can't drive, its the fact that they aren't actually driving. They are being carried in their giant indestructible box, rolling along THEIR road full of strange and smaller boxes that are only in THEIR way. But they do get to hold onto that, um, steering wheel thing, and press that fat pedal that makes their giant box carry them faster.
There are few good female drivers out there, right?

You know we as car people get a special feeling while driving our prized ride but I must say the America is full of (what I have termed) COMA drivers.

I have had the chance to drive on the Autobahn (few days) in Germany and the Autostrada (two years) in Italy and I have to say it was the absolute best driving experience I have ever had. Not just the silk smooth road or the fact that there is no speed limit (in certain areas) but the comfort knowing that all the other drivers on the road are as one in unison.

Just a bit of advice from an old motorhead...

ShApE, Congratulations, It's true-your life will never be the same: it will be way better...

Here's the advice: Get the "global" view! Don't be one of those drivers that can't see past the bumper in front of them... I see boneheads every day; they swerve from lane to lane becuase they see the car in front of them slow a little bit so they jump into the other lane only to find themselves behind someone even slower so they jump back where they came from. If they had the "global" view they would have known what was going on all around them not just immediatly in front of them.

I have 2 teenage daughters, one your age (cheerleader/gymnast, NO, YOU CAN'T HAVE HER PHONE NUMBER!) and one just out of high school. Both are pretty good behind the wheel. I guess they are part of the 10% with a clue??
