Hex Bar VS Bell Crank Linkage

Which is better to use with a Porsche Shroud Conversion on a Type 4 motor?

I can get some carbs for $350 with Hex Bar Linkage or $325 without.

Will The Type 1 hex bar linkage work with a Porsche Shroud on A T4?

Or should I just get the CSP Bell Crank Linkage?

Bellcrank without a doubt.....

I use it in every application I can. I'm adapting a style of bellcrank linkage to my new shrouds!!!!1

As heat is a problem for bellcrank linkages, there are different versions available in Germany. Heat expansion makes the bellcrank opening the throttle a tad bit. There are ways to avoid that. You can get specially done linkages for (sometimes horrible) high prices here in Germany. For the Type 1 with original fan or for the Type 4. It works pretty easy with decoupling ball ends, where the pressing rod sits loose inside. When the engine getting hotter, the rod pushes itself a bit out the guidance of the ball end. Personally, I like the CSP version as it is working well and pretty cheap. Heat expansion is not a very big problem!
That's all! I know, my English is not as good as it can be, so maybe it sounds funny, what I've written there!

vujade, I have the CSP bell crank, it's a very nice piece at a good price. Type 1 hex bar must be modified to work on a type 4 anyway.

I am not sure there are "hex bar" systems that are designed for T1/4 with Porshe fanhousing on the market. I for one have never seen it.
Has anybody else ?

Question CB linkage with Porsche shrouds

Jake,
There are some pics in your webpage that shows some engine using the hex bar linkage (not sure if they are CB or not) with the Porsche shrouds....eg (Oscar and Raul Valerio's completed custom engines, Randy Reed's motor, your own 2332 motor, John Granger's 2165cc, Alberto Dimaggio's 2165cc)

Any problems with those linkage when used with Porsche shrouds??

I intend to use those Cb linkage as i have 4 sets of them now with me...so that i don't have to waste money on bell crank linkage.

48 Dells with Cb space saver manifolds, stock cooling but will change to Porsche cooling.

Sorry to jump in...

I'm just about to buy a linkage to go with some 40 drla's I've just bought and was wandering on which one to go for. CB hex bar or CSP bell crank. My engine is a type 1, not a type 4, with a standard type 1 cooling setup.

Cheers.

wallace, see the FAT thread in this forum. sandeep is running hex with his FAT shroud. as other shrouds sit even lower, i do not see why it would be an issue. sandeep did have to do a modification to get his to work, but it works.
