Glass action fiberglass dash

What do you think?
I was looking for something alittle easier for my dash thats been mangled by the PO. What do you guys think of this dash kit, http://www.vwinnovations.com/bug.html#unique. This way I won't have to spend 40 hrs on it like I did on the roof of my car.
Too cheesee, I have OK fab skill and could go anyway, but I think I like the looks of the fiberglass dash, OK I like the pic. but has anyone seen one in person, Thanks JR

I have seen it before. It looks a little goofy to me the way the drivers side trys to wrap the driver. The car is to small and the porportions look wrong. But this is just my opinion. If you have the skills I would just spend the time fixing your current dash.

I agree, looks like something out of the 80's to me...
I'd just fit a complete panel over the existing cut-up dash if you don't have the skills to fabricate something better or repair it..

I think that it could look good with a bit of upholstry work done. and maybe a glove box door fitted to the passenger side. I was thinking that if you were to wrap it in a neoprene type material or maybe leather for the top and guage face, and a brushed aluminum strip on the center console area it wouldn't look too bad. The problem is that people generally just sitck it in, and paint it body color and it looks to basic and plain.

There's a good reason that dash looks so '80s. It was basically the dash of choice for many Mulholland Looks. Many American cars of that era had the wrap-around ****pit concept. It was very me-me-me '80s -- It's my car. I'm driving. Everything is at my disposal and only my disposal. Don't you dare reach around and change the station while Foghat is playing.

The only way I can envision liking it in a German Looker would be if it were going into a one-seater. Even still, everything these days is about pods, not imposing clunky fiberglass.

Not sure what year dash you are looking to replace, but there are some people over at Superbeetlesonly.com that are doing some fiberglass work with the stock dashes and others incorporating some TIII dash bits too.

I think I saw a car on this site having this dash..you can search it, it's somewhere in the "car shows" topic and if I'm right it is one of the bug-o-rama pics.. it's a yellow/gold bug with a motor in the nose...so not too difficult to find.
